Overview and Learning Outcomes

The Management Information Systems (MIS) program is designed to expose students to current information technologies and information management theories as a means to maximising organisational performance. The program effectively integrates the technical area of computer technology with business operations.

 

The program provides advanced study to prepare students with professional skills, values, and attitudes for the challenges of the professional practice of information technology.

Students will:

  • Understand the leadership role of Management Information Systems in achieving business competitive advantage through informed decision making.
  • Analyse and synthesise business information and systems to facilitate the evaluation of strategic alternatives.
  • Effectively communicate strategic alternatives to facilitate decision making.
  • Apply the role of leadership in carrying out IT strategy and directing teams.

Assessment

Throughout your degree, you will be assessed by the mixture of formal examinations, essays, reports, case study analysis, and group work.

Requirements

  • 5 credit passes in English, Mathematics, and three of any of the following subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Geography and Economics taken in not more than two seating's at "O" Level or WASSCE not more than two settings, and including English.
  • OD in ICT and Engineering with at least 3.60 Cumulative Grade Point Average (Year I) from a recognised institution/college.
