The department of Business Information Technology provides a balance of business and information technology and responds to industry needs, enhancing your employment prospects. The program focuses on computing and business-oriented modules learning students to use current technology in communications, databases, and web publishing, to analyse business problems and develop efficient solutions.

Students will:

• Design, plan, budget, and propose an IT project for an identified need within a specific scope.
• Understand the importance of systematic operating methods in project work and can act responsibly in various projects.
• Understand the modelling and design of computer-based systems in a way that demonstrates comprehension of the trade-off involved in design choices.
• Be able to design and implement: specifying, designing, and implementing computer-based systems.
• Be able to create, evaluate and assess options, in a range of business situations, applying concepts and knowledge appropriately
• Communicate effectively, orally, and in writing, about business issues.
• Communicate: making succinct presentations to a range of audiences about technical problems and their solutions.
• IT: knowledge of information retrieval skills (including the use of browsers, search engines and catalogs) and effective use of general IT facilities

Throughout your degree, you will be assessed by the mixture of formal examinations, essays, reports, case study analysis, and group work.
